What are Creative Agencies

A typical agency usually focuses on production rather than other things. They usually include photography along with all its forms. However, nobody can claim that they are only limited to that. They can also hold a ton of features other than that of only photography. For example television ads, banner ads, web ads, and many more.

More specifically, Creative Agencies sometimes also known as Creative Advertising Agencies, focus on design, and most often they use outside partners such as ad marketing consultants to fully deploy their work.

In a beautifully-designed nutshell, a creative agency is one that spends its days and nights crafting artistic and engaging work for brands and fellow businesses.

Why are photographers needed in such agencies

There are several reasons why photographers are needed in such agencies. They also depend on certain factors. They are listed as follows:

What They Do: Photographers in an agency use their technical expertise, excellent creativity, and skills of composition to produce and preserve mind-blowing images.

Work Environment: Working conditions are of paramount importance for any sector of work. Even for photographers. Furthermore, their working conditions vary by specialty.

For example, some photographers keep on traveling for photo shoots, working either indoors or outdoors. On the other hand, other photographers work in studios. Not only that. There are still many other photographers who work in laboratories and use microscopes and other specialized tools to photograph subjects.

In addition to all of them, it would be very difficult for any individual photographer, especially the amateur ones, to arrange such working conditions. Owing to this reason, many designers prefer working in such agencies.

Salary: The salary is also another factor why such agencies are in great demand by photographers. The median hourly wage for photographers is $16.35. So, who would resist this amount if they could get this along with the other stated facilities?

Why the agencies hire such photographers

Agencies need to make a profit. They need money. They do it by using the photos clicked by the photographers. So if there are no photographers working the agency or in the company, then there is going to be no work of digital media in the creative digital agencies.

Be it a creative advertising agency or a branding agency, it needs professional photographers to work with them. If there are no professional photographers with proven expertise and working with them, then professional photographers are the only option for the agencies.

What Photographers Do

Professional photographers use their technical expertise, outstanding creativity, and exclusive composition skills to produce and preserve images that tell a story or record an event.

Duties of Photographers

They typically do the following:

Use various photographic techniques and lighting equipment

Archive and manage imagery

Market and advertise services to attract clients

Use photo-enhancing software

Analyze and plan the composition of photographs

Capture subjects in commercial-quality photographs

Enhance the subject’s appearance with natural or artificial light

Maintain a digital portfolio to demonstrate their work

How to get into advertising photography

There are many facets to photography that can be highly profitable to you. While you can spend years doing street photography or any other photography you like, and you are really performing well there, but nothing beats commercial photography. The primary and basic reason behind that is the amount it pays and the money you can make through this.

Furthermore, it is also very rewarding to work in that sector because while working here one usually shapes the opinion of people with their photography. On the other hand, it is nota quite a simple job to work for an ad agency. One really has to know what he or she is doing. And this works as the key to success. The better the knowledge one has about his or her work, the more successful he is in comparison to the others.

Know your style

Each and every one of us have got their individual style in doing anything. It is not an exception in advertising photography as well. That is the reason, before getting into commercial photography, it is quite important for the person to know what his style would be and what particular techniques would he follow as his signature. These would also turn out to be helpful in paving one’s way to success. Along with that, understanding one’s styles would help him to know the campaigns to work for.

And a signature style is not only restricted to photography. It is necessary for any form of art. No matter what the art is. A signature style helps in creating an impression that is totally true to you and nobody else.

Market Differently

To become successful in any sector you need to have the skill to market successfully yet different than the rest. To be successful here, you need to find ways to sell a true marketing message through your photography. In addition to that, your marketing strategy must be a dynamic and interesting one.

You can click pictures, build up your portfolio, and build-up yourself that way. However, if you, by any chance, do not become successfully able to execute this plan, then there will be a waste of the resources.

How to get into a creative design agency

If you do not find yourself comfortable with advertising media then there is nothing to worry about it. There are other possible aspects. If you want to try something different then you can go with creative design agencies. Here all you basically need is your creativity. That plays the most crucial role in here.

Also, you might find listed all the information pointwise to be a better option for you. Then let’s begin with a great smile as I am listing down all of that information as a list. So, let’s begin.

Follow the instructions properly

All the pieces of instruction sets that you are provided with are there for a reason. All of them have their particular objectives and targets. Hence, abiding by all of them could be the best choice.

Understand your work, position and requirements carefully

For you to shine bright, you need to know your responsibilities well. Your responsibilities might include you being creative in each and everything you do and follow. Furthermore, you can also think about everything in a different way and bring in the best possible outcome.

Doing the homework properly

Always do your homework properly. It has been assigned to you for a particular reason. The reason is that by doing your homework well, you will get to know each and every segment of your responsibility very well. You can get some incentives as well. In addition to that, if you are a job holder in any such organization, then you can do your work and at the same time impress your boss by your hard work.

Get to know your company well

If you work for a company, then to be successful in what you do is a major step. And this success can be brought closer by getting to know the company well. If you need to work well, then you need to know your company well. Simple as that. If you can guarantee that you know your company well, then your strategy will guarantee that you will shine in your career.

Think like a professional

To be able to reach your goals at the earliest possible opportunity, you need to think like a professional. And that too, from the very first. The reason behind this is we all know that the early bird catches the worm.

If you do not do it in the proper way from the very beginning, then you can rest assured that there is certainly someone else in your field, who will take the lead by pushing you backward.

Try to make your messages as attractive as possible

Whenever you are writing a message to anybody, be it your direct clients, or the CEO of any big company. You have to be clear in your voice and make your text as attractive as possible, regardless of when you are writing it.

There may be times you will consider thinking that whatever message you are trying to convey now may be something quite simple and does not demand much attention. BUT YOU ARE WRONG!!! You have to pay careful attention to it every time you write anything so that your messages grab everybody’s attention.

Always try your best

It is always advisable, that you give your best in everything you do. If you can do your best, then your work would be one of the best for sure.

Conclusion

No matter whether it is an advertising agency or a creative design agency that you work for or anything else, you need to be specific in setting up your goals and making the best possible routine for work. If you can do all of them to the very best, then it can be well assured that you will reach your destination, no matter whatever agency you are working for.

As I am working for a photo editing company and mainly handling clients, I often get a lot of studio managers as our client and by working with them I figured out some of the common skills they all have. What are the skills which have led them to be a successful studio manager? I will try to share my knowledge throughout this article which may help you to be a better studio manager.

Main Qualities of a Great Studio Manager

Great Attitude

A person running or maintaining any studio must have a great attitude. The energy and the spirit that a manager possesses in any certain studio determines how the staff will be driven and that also sets a new level about how the rest of the people working out there interacts.

To be more explicit, the more positive energy and good vibes possessed by the studio manager, the better the team spirit the studio is supposed to have and vice-versa. Hence, we can conclude that a great positive attitude is of utmost importance.

No sugarcoating

Sugar Coating means to make something superficially attractive or acceptable. It means that a great studio manager would demonstrate things the exact way it is and not in any other way by doing some sort of an addition or subtraction to the matter.

Furthermore, the person is likely to provide you feedback according to the situation and let you know where the problems are. They would get to the point right away.

Scheduling and punctuality

Punctuality is a particular quality that should be possessed by people working in each and every sector regardless of the category. It serves as one of the deciding factors that determine whether someone would be embraced by success or be slapped by failure.

For a studio manager, scheduling and punctuality are of the utmost importance. Any certain Studio Manager must be able to properly decide on how to make the best use of each day’s time along with the space available in the studio and maximize the usability of the equipment available in order to maximize the profit and productivity of the studio.

Technical Skills

Technical skills are of great importance in most of the sectors. The more technical knowledge someone has over his field, the more capable he is considered to be in that particular field.

It doesn’t matter what your studio is about in particular. You need to be able to do some certain work there. For example, on certain occasions, studio managers might be called upon to install, operate, maintain, or troubleshoot some technical problems or equipment. They may also have to schedule repairs of equipment. Thus, technical experience may turn out to be highly valuable in such circumstances.

Flexibility

For everyone in power, the person should have the utmost flexibility. This is because remaining flexible is quite important regardless of what the power is or who the person is.

Yes, there may be times when things don’t always go as it should have been going. In such scenarios, if you are able to make quick decisions when tough situations come up and if you are able to roll with the punches, then you have the qualities of a great manager.

When any difficult or tough situation arises, you expect a manager to think on their feet and come to decisions without running to here and there every single time. A manager should be able to run the studio even when there are not many other people around and the company is going through a tough situation.

To be more specific, everything should be running smoothly when the others in the top posts are not present in the office or studio and everything is on the hands of the manager in the off-hours.

Willingness to work

The best manager one can hire is someone who is not at all afraid to get in the tough post of the job and simply get the job done. That means that they are there for any sort of work the studio needs. The person selected as the studio manager will be ready to do any sort of job and not give any excuses when certain tasks are assigned to him.

Basically, a manager should be willing to do any sort of work that is necessary for the studio to keep running.

Invoicing and tracking

Whenever any client uses any of the studio’s resources, they have to pay for it. It is the task of the studio manager to set up the client’s accounts and invoicing the clients for the time they are using it. Finally, they should be able to track through all of the invoices so that all of the payments are made properly and they are paid in full.

Accountability

A good manager is one who is not afraid to accept responsibility for his mistakes and at the same time, he is also there to enjoy glory when good things happen.

In short, a proper and great studio manager should never hesitate to admit the mistakes that he has made and fix them or make amends at the earliest possible opportunity and resolve them.

In the same way, a great manager should also be able to hold the staff accountable and liable for their jobs and any mistakes that they have made. All this is done so that the studio runs smoothly without any issue or without creating any further problems.

Maturity

As your studio manager, you do not want someone who is not responsible and mature enough. This is a very vital post and should be handled by someone who has got the proper sense of maturity.

Maturity is considered to be an important trait in managers of any sort as it ensures that they can remain cool even when the situation is a tough one. Furthermore, it is important that they don’t get carried away by their frustration or anger while they are doing their job.

Team management

As a studio manager, you often have to deal with third-party services. For example, when you shoot thousands of photos a day, you always don’t have all of the resources in-house. You may then need to go for some outsourcing companies who can help you out. But like every sector, you will find both good and bad companies. You need to know which company would be better for your project. Is it cost-friendly or not? If the answer is yes, then you can go to that company.

The primary role of a creative studio manager is to provide support and management to the entire design team who is working and also to communicate with the clients. This is a quite crucial role. The reason behind this is that if there is no creative studio manager then the entire responsibility of communicating with the clients would go to the designers. This will have a negative impact as it will take away time from the designers hindering their ability to work on the project and show their creativity.

Educational Requriements

Education is not mandatory but its good to have a relevant degree, Holly Booth is a successful commercial photographer and holding a degree of it. But it doesn’t mean without a degree you can’t be a successful photographer.

On the other hand, you can consider Jaime Travezan, a UK based photographer. He has got his degree in architecture, but he is also quite successful as well. Hence, you can conclude that it is better if you have got a relevant degree but having it is not a must.

All you need to have is the proper skills that are needed to be a photographer.

Key roles of a studio manager

If your background is design-oriented or your company structure requires it, then you might also consider working on the creative side where you need to assist with the design. Besides, you might also need to provide some creative direction which is quite an easy task for you if you are from a creative background.

The next task would be to create and make an estimate on the project times needed and handling the complete studio management. Here the key role would be to keep everyone up to date on the project status on how much time is needed and what is the progress.

Another task would be to create and implement workflow and do project management processes so that it makes a smooth and efficient project lifecycle.

Managing a project right from briefing to completion would be another major task of a successful studio manager. Here the key responsibilities would be to take a brief from the clients and to consolidate the client’s needs and assigning the projects to the designers accordingly. Finally, through all of these, the main task would be to manage outputs and ensure that the deadlines are met.

Quality control is of utmost importance here. The key roles needed to be played here to always check whether or not it matches all of the requirements set by the client before you deliver the project. This is a must.

There may be times in the work process that the workload is intense and at its peak. It might be driving you crazy. During such a tough period, your task would be to make things go as smoothly as possible. You can do this by giving your effort in the work, and you do some work if necessary. This is only possible if your background is from that particular design sector. Furthermore, if the situation needs, then you might need to hire a freelancer by judging all the appropriate qualities in the freelancer.

There may be times when you will get photos from your photo editing partner. At those times, to ensure your quality, you can check them out whether they match your quality or not.

There may be times when you will find your one to be of inferior quality than the ones sent by your partner. Then you can try to improve your quality as there is always the chance for improvement.

Also, you will need to do the proofreading which means checking the documents before they keep on piling up your inbox.

Assessment and briefing the management is also a key factor. You need to help your designers understand by celebrating all the wins and also make everyone regret the losses. You can do so by doing some proper discussions and also you can share your ideas on how situations can be handled even better in the near future.

For example, if you are from the graphic design sector, you can guide your team on how to use the tools in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator wisely to make your workflow buttery smooth.

On the other hand, if you are an expert on animation or video editing, then you might need to make efforts in guiding your team on how to properly use all of the software such as After Effects and Premiere Pro easily.

All of these serve great, but will not take place if you are not from a graphic design background.

Skills of a studio manager

Successful studio managers should possess extremely well multi-tasking skills. With these multitasking skills, they face all of the responsibilities that they encounter.

They also have great communication skills as when it comes to dealing with any clients they are the ones who need to face them. They are the first point of contact when it comes to dealing with clients.

Stated above are all of the general roles which are supposed to be present in someone who is seeking to be a great studio manager. In addition to those general skills, employers usually look for Studio Manager, then they look for a handful of skills. These skills can be categorized into two basic parts. They are core skills and advanced skills.

Core skills:

According to the job listings which are available, employers consider studio managers with the following core skills:

Client relations skills

Team management skills

Accountability skills

Time management skills

Flexibility and adaptability skills

These are the core skills that should be possessed by anyone who is opting to be a great studio manager of contemporary time.

Advanced skills:

Advanced skills are usually not any necessities in the job posting which can be found however, they are usually mentioned as to get preferences while applying for jobs.

Hence, if you are seeking for jobs and are trying to broaden up your career options, you can consider adding them up in your skill list.

Someone who has attended certain training sessions related to the industry in which one wants to work for example graphic design, or anything similar.

Another thing is to experience managing large teams of people who can control a good collection of people. If one has served a large community or an organization, then it is a plus point.

Studio Manager Q n A

What are some of the core duties performed by a studio manager?

Some of the key duties that a studio manager performs are opening the studio in the morning. Furthermore, it is usually he who is the first person to enter the studio and set up the atmosphere.

He should also make sure that everything is working fine and they should be as per the rule. It means everything should be working perfectly.

Alongside all of these, there might be some additional duties such as answering phone calls, setting everything up, and also maybe ordering for lunch.

What challenges does a studio manager face?

The challenges that a studio manager faces often is to serve clients with a variety. This means that he must have enough skills to do so and undertake his duty perfectly.

What skills do studio managers use most?

The skills which are mostly used by studio managers are communication skills. This is because being a studio manager he needs to communicate with the clients, with the colleagues, and also with a lot of other people on a daily basis so that the agency runs smoothly.

Nowadays, a lot of the photographers are tending to move towards advertising or commercial photography. This is because by this they get the opportunity to work with big and renowned companies which in most cases, gives them better job security and also good pay.

Alongside this, you also get the opportunity to work with great and well-known people, and also you get to work in exotic locations. All of these may sound quite interesting. However, being a professional commercial photographer has also got some criteria just as becoming a great studio manager.

It is not only that beginners would want to become an advertising photographer. It may be with expert photographers as well. At present, they might be working on some other sector, for example, any wedding or food photographer might now want to become an advertising photographer as their area of interest has shifted.

Educational Qualification

There is no such hard and fast rule for any certain college degree being necessary for this occupation. But it is quite a common trend that people opt-in for earning a general bachelor’s degree. It is a common practice.

At times, an educational background in the field of photography or fine arts is preferred.

Rather, if they have a handsome experience over technical and photography skills, this serves as a plus point. Then they do not need to spend a lot of time behind learning all of their necessary skills.

If they have an amazing portfolio of work, then that is a great plus on their work. A strong and attractive portfolio works a great deal in helping someone identify which photographer has got the skill and which one does not. It does not inhibit anything. Rather it serves as a helping hand.

Now, there may be a question that how would a photographer store the images, and is there any particular camera which he might use to get his job done. For cameras, there is not any hard and fast rule that one needs a particular camera or else he cannot capture amazing pictures to be used on an industrial scale. But there is one thing to focus on.

Nowadays, photographers use digital cameras instead of traditional film-based cameras that were used in the past. There is a reason behind that. The main reason is that digital cameras enable its users to store and edit images on a computer after the image has been captured. Here the images are captured electronically in a digital process.

On the other hand, for old school film-based cameras, there was no option to take pictures digitally or edit them afterward if there were any mistakes or unwanted marks in the image or just to enhance the look of it by editing.

Digital cameras have given us this facility.

Storing and Editing the Images and Making a Portfolio

You can sort your images and store them in a portfolio. For sorting you I prefer sorting them in category wise. For example, you can use categories such as food, luxury, and necessities.

For storing them, you can use your own personal website. This will help you to share your images to the audiences very fast rather than storing them on physical devices such as pen drives which makes the process slower. Just give them the link to your site and then they can browse and find what they need.

But don’t worry if you have not got a site of your own. A lot of photographers don’t have it. I would then suggest you use third party websites such as Behance and Flicker.

For the purpose of image editing, you can use Adobe Lightroom for some basic editing such as color correction, image straightening, etc. At times there might be the necessity of a little bit of touchup too. There you can do some retouching as per the demand of the image.

The main goal is to prepare and share your best capture with your potential clients which can help you to win a project.

Training and Career Requirements

Even though there are not any specific educational requirements for being a professional advertising photographer, but undergoing some of the relevant training programs would be highly advisable.

A person becomes a great photographer by taking a lot of photos from different angles and also through years of practice. This practice paves their way to success. For such artists developing their portfolio is of the utmost importance. If their portfolio is a catchy one then it increases the retention rates of the clients on it.

A proper portfolio is something at which clients or directors take a look before deciding which photographer to give the contract to.

It is always wise that in occupations like photography, you start working as the assistant of a professional and seasoned photographer and undergo training. This will not only help you develop your skills further, but you will also get to know and use a lot of the resources, which to you as a beginner would have been quite tough to find or manage.

Best of all, through this, you also gain some exposure to prospective clients.

Some important qualities that need to be present

Every picture captured by the photographer plays quite an important role to grab the attention of the client. Hence, they must always have the artistic quality to have that appealing feeling. A good photograph is one that has a combination of the proper colors, appropriate tone of light and shadow, and a good understanding of near and far objects.

Sometimes achieving some proper computer skills is also quite important. This is because all the captured images might not have the proper blend of shadow and light exposure or might have other issues. At times there may be some unwanted objects that need to be removed. Hence, some computer and image editing skills are necessary.

Since the subject of discussion is advertising photography, then a photographer with the proper marketing strategies and a great ability to reach out to clients can make the game much easier.

When portraying an object for advertisement, it must have the proper attention to detail. Hence, when doing such photography, proper attention to detail is a huge plus.

Some easy tips and guidelines

Tip-1 Make your work stand out from the rest

Apart from making your work into an amazing portfolio, you must also do the extra work that makes your work stand out from the rest. This will add some extra value to your work and also will pave your way to success.

Along with all of those, this also increases your chances to get selected for any certain position where you are competing with a lot of other people. Hence, you have to walk the extra mile to give yourself the extra benefit.

Tip-2 Do a lot of experiments

An image can be attractive and eye-catchy in a number of ways. And similar to it, there are a number of ways in which a photo can be captured. Some with great light exposure, while some with a good blend of colors.

You have to capture a lot of different photos in a variety of styles and achieve an understanding that which particular types of photos are liked the best by the audience. Then you can work accordingly and raise yourself higher from the rest.

Tip- 3 Study enough and study properly

It is always wise to study those particular people who are already shining in the field you want to enter. No matter whether you are a beginner and have targeted a particular industry or you are a pro who wants to make a shift.

You should always study successful people well and must understand how they became successful. Alongside this, you also have to go through all the hardships the successful people have gone through to take yourself to that position. In short, if you want to shine like the sun, first you have to burn like the sun.

In addition to that, it is also necessary that you understand the current advertising trends which are popular, and also study the marketing styles. Sometimes, you may find that products such as shoes can be marketed well using social media marketing and at times the scenario may be different. Hence, you should study them well.

Tip-4 Learn about networking

As stated above, you must need to make a positive exposure to the clients and grab their attention. If you cannot do so, then it will be quite difficult for you to be successful. Additionally, you need to make some extra-ordinary artistic work that will sieve you from the rest.

If you can reach a lot of people who can be your potential clients by extending your network, then the rest of the work would be a piece of cake.

There are several ways of marketing. They can be divided into two basic subdivisions. One is online while the other is offline. In the two upcoming paragraphs, I will describe the two different processes in detail.

For online marketing, in particular, I have found social media marketing quite useful. Here, my suggestion would be to use Facebook groups which can help you find the relevant traffic. You can search by the name of “Popular Advertising Photography” or “Commercial Photography”. There is also the option for LinkedIn groups as well. There are several groups for photographers on LinkedIn as well. You can join there and make your advertisement for advertisement photography and get some buyers rolling in.

For offline marketing, the scenario is quite different. Here, you need to join and attend the different hackathons, trade bodies, and professional associations where you will find plenty of audiences who require the aid of photographers as such.

Tip-5 Understand and get yourself the right equipment

You might have got the experience of capturing a great photo and editing it on a phone and publishing it on social media. This might help you get great fame for your post but that may not work out in the field of professional advertising photography. That will, for sure, make your clients think twice before hiring you.

From my experience what I have got is that for professional-grade photography, you need professional equipment. This includes a professional camera, the proper lenses, a couple of spare batteries, and good quality of tripods.

It is also wise that you invest in a good secondary camera. This is because, I have personally experienced times when during a shoot, my main camera stopped working and started giving errors. If I did not have the spare secondary camera, all I could do is pack up my stuff and get back home.

And last but not the least, it is wise to invest in getting good quality photo editing software. It will be best if you can get the online version. This is because, at times, if you don’t even carry your laptop, then as well you can manage a pc and log in to your account and start working instead of sitting down idle.

Tip-6 Advertise to your right target audiences

All the products that are available around the globe today have specific markets. Hence, you should always advertise and showcase your portfolio to the right people.

You might be an outstanding photographer, but if you do not have the proper target audience, then your revenue might decrease and you might consider yourself to be lost out. Hence, to achieve the best results, you must always study your target audience before you start advertising.

Tip-7

Tip-7 Expand your marketing knowledge

It is quite important that one can market efficiently by reaching out to clients in order to sell his products properly. There are several digital and social media marketing techniques available today. For example, Facebook Marketing and Instagram Marketing. If you can become an expert on them, then you can use them to boost up your sales and bring in revenue.

Today is going to be fun.

Today I will be discussing how lifestyle photography and product photography compete against each other. I would be doing this by referring to all of that knowledge and information which I have gathered from my experience working as a project manager in a photo editing company.

How do I define them and where they are used

Lifestyle photography is one of its kind that mainly captures pictures of people in real-life situations or events. They tend to capture pictures of people while they are doing their day to day activities or their work and actions on any special occasion.

Lifestyle photography has primarily got its application in magazines and newspapers where they feature the lifestyles and day to day activities of famous people such as celebrities.

On the other hand, product photography is considered to be a branch of commercial photography where the primary and the sole focus of the photographer remain to showcase the products.

The main applications of product photography are usually in product catalogs, brochures, and online eCommerce stores. Here attractive and eye-catching images of the products are used to advertise the products.

Product photography has also got similarities to some other photography types. Examples include tabletop, still life, catalog, and sell sheet photography. Best of all, they are all designed to portray the products in such a way that is sorted and laid off for the customers to find them appealing.

However, both may be advertised as well.

Must Have Qualities

There are several must-have qualities that need to be present in a photographer. From my experience in working as a project manager in a photo editing company, I have found out that there are some qualities that are needed by a photographer individually by their work categories.

On the other hand, there are also some qualities that are needed to be present in photographers of all sorts.

Not convinced yet and still need more clarification? Then worry no more. I will be listing the qualities which are needed by photographers as per their niche.

Ability to anticipate what is about to happen

It is usually advised that you should not wait when you assume something is about to happen. You should not wait for the moment to come or the action to happen. This is because, some very special moments last only a few seconds and if you are not prompt enough, there is a high possibility that you might miss the shot.

Examples of such special moments include somebody receiving their graduation medal, or a child playing in an awesome pose.

Ability to take a photo without the light

One thing to keep in mind when capturing lifestyle photography is that you must always capture everything that unfolds naturally. There may be times when your subject of attention may not be in the best lighting conditions may be because you are enveloped by the orange light of dusk, but you have to make it work out that way.

You can do so by changing the direction of your photo shoot or by quickly grabbing a reflector.

Capturing the before and after of any anticipated moment

It is always wise to capture the seconds before and the seconds after an anticipated moment. The reason behind that is that you later get the option to compare which image turned out better and you can select from those.

There might also be some hidden picturesque treasure that you might have missed. Hence, it is always good to have the chance to compare it later.

Qualities Needed by a Product Photographer

Power of imagination

By working as a project manager in a photo editing company, I have found it out that people who do product photography need to have a good deal of imaginative power. This is because they need to think and imagine that in which way if they take the photograph, it will showcase the best and what is the best way possible.

Patience

There has to be patience in every photographer, that whenever they are taking any photograph, they need to take it repeatedly until the perfect shot from the perfect angle is achieved.

There should be a proper balance of light and shade, color combination, and a good mesmerizing view.

An eye for every detail

There needs to be a keen eye for detail in every photographer so that he can ensure that all the elements within the photo have been captured perfectly. All the details include good lighting, proper focus on the subject, and proper color combination. The summary is the product needs to convey the message the seller wants to convey.

Necessary Products and Accessories

Products and accessories such as a camera, a good pair of lenses, good quality memory cards, and a good tripod are quite common and necessary to all sorts of photography. Yes, there may be some exceptions where you will find that some specific accessories are not of that much importance in a particular type.

Still not clear? Let me help you get rid of your confusion with an example.

For example in product photography, a tripod is quite important. On the other hand, for a lifestyle photographer, he needs to hold the camera by his hand and then click the photograph on the place where the action is happening rather than standing idle in a position with his camera and tripod.

Is There any Studio Needed for These

Here comes one of the most important questions. Is a studio of any sort, a must for any of these sorts of photography? Can they be done home?

It is better if you have a studio for product photography but you can also do them at home. Contrary to this, for lifestyle photography, it is not a must. It has to be done in the place where the function is happening.

Earnings

The earnings may vary from region to region but there can always be a comparison. Since I have worked closely with the photographers, I can thus reach a conclusion on how much each sector earns on an average.

The average salary of a lifestyle photographer can vary and rise up to $41,145 a year. On the other hand, a product photographer earns $30,367 a year. This can be raised to $40,000 a year at max.

Necessity of Creativity

In both cases, creativity is required but is not of utmost importance. There may be times where one sector might demand more creativity than the other.

For example, there might be times, when you are capturing the image of a product and may not get the perfect, appealing, and eye-catchy look during the very first.

There you might need to take a good number of shots until you get the perfect snap portraying the product.

However, this is not a must in lifestyle photography. Here you need to anticipate and wait for the perfect moment.
